SURFING
YOUR
FEARS
I’m Alex Novoa, and surfing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in El Salvador, the ocean was like a second home to me. I started out bodyboarding as a kid, spending hours in the waves, and eventually explored all kinds of boards—shortboards, longboards, SUP, mid-lengths. Each one has taught me something different, and it’s this variety that has deepened my connection to the water.
Surfing isn’t just a passion; it’s a way of life for me. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that surfing is much more than riding waves. It’s taught me how to handle fear, face challenges head-on, and develop a deep sense of patience and respect—for myself, for others, and for the ocean. These are the lessons I love sharing with others as a surf coach, which I’ve been doing for more than 20 years.
At Surfing Your Fears, my focus is to help you see that surfing isn’t just about conquering waves; it’s about conquering yourself. I want to help you use your fears as tools to grow, not just as a surfer but as a person. Together, we’ll work through those fears, step by step, so you can find your confidence in the water and take those lessons with you into every part of your life.
