SURFING
YOUR
FEARS
Being from the Netherlands, I didn't grow up surfing. I started when I was about 18 years old, and I was obsessed from the start. My goal from that moment on became: learn to surf well enough to be able to teach and share this passion with others. I was self-taught and made all mistakes possible. It definitely wasn't a smooth journey. I put myself in a lot of situations that created unnecessary fears and panic moments, simply because I had no clue what I was doing.
Ever since I began teaching, I've realized it can be done a lot smoother and more efficiently when you get the right information and instructions. So, being able to help others in their journey to become better surfers has become my biggest passion.
After a couple of years of surfing, I discovered surfskating and taught myself by watching videos of other people surf and surfskate. I love to study and break down every little details to be able to understand how to do it differently/better. Every time I would go skate with my friends, I would end up trying to help and teach them. And so, I started connecting surf coaching with teaching surfskating and how to use this as a tool to help others improve their surfing.
My focus in surfing your fears is primarily on helping you grasp the technical aspects of surfing. I aim to guide you through understanding, feeling, and experiencing the techniques firsthand, fostering a connection between your brain and body. By raising awareness of your movements and how they influence your board, I strive to empower you with a deeper understanding of surfing mechanics.
